Weather warning issued as cold snap to start tonight

The country’s set to be gripped by a cold snap over the coming days.

A status yellow ice warning comes into effect from 6pm this evening, bringing freezing fog and icy stretches on the roads.

That warning is set to stay in place until midday on Monday, but the arctic spell of weather is expected to last until Thursday morning.

Met Eireann Meteorologist Linda Hughes says snow is also possible in the coming days:
