Lough Swilly RNLI was tasked today to what turned out to be an apparent false alarm.
The Malin Head Coast Guard alerted the RNLI at around 12.40pm following reports of a flare seen in the Culdaff Bay area.
Assistance was provided by Rescue 118 units from the Greencastle Coast Guard.
After an extensive search of the area, all units were stood down.
