Plans for free school books for primary school children to be unveiled today

Parents of primary school children won’t have to pay for books anymore.

Plans will be unveiled today which will see schools paid just under 100 euro for each student, to cover the cost of workbooks, textbooks and copies.

Education Minister Norma Foley will announce the scheme later this morning, with the Irish Times reporting she will also instruct schools to remove any book related expenses from the voluntary contributions they seek from parents.
