Irish children among top performers in literacy despite pandemic

An international study shows Ireland’s primary school students are still performing well at literacy, despite the Covid 19 pandemic.

The Progress in International Reading Literacy Study found Ireland is among just a handful of top performing countries to retain standards in spite of the pandemic.

Education Minister Norma Foley’s welcomed the findings, and thanked teachers, principals, parents and pupils themselves for what she called their ‘sterling work’.
