July 12th should be a public holiday in the Republic, according to one government TD.
Bonfires and parades are a feature of the celebrations every year, with some controversial parades re-routed from nationalist areas.
The Green Party’s Patrick Costello says it would help promote reconciliation, but insists the sectarian displays and burning of effigies seen at some bonfires have no place in his vision…………………
