It was revealed hospitals in Letterkenny and Sligo were among the top five overcrowded hospitals in the country.
On today’s World Patient Safety Day, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has called for the HSE to come to this week’s Emergency Department Taskforce meeting with revised and renewed solutions to reduce overcrowding which in turn will have a positive impact on patient safety.
This comes as over 5,200 patients, including 100 children, have been without a bed in Irish hospitals since the beginning of September.
