New system now in place for transporting goods in Northern Ireland from Britain

A new system is now in place for transporting goods into Northern Ireland from Britain.

From today – lorries with goods for sale in the North will enter through a green lane – while goods travelling on across the border will use a red lane.

The ‘green lane’ means less paperwork and no routine physical checks.

The system is part of a revised post-Brexit deal to keep Northern Ireland inside the EU single market.
