Inflation up slightly in September

The rate of inflation increased slightly in the twelve months to September.

Consumer prices rose by 6 point 4 per cent, that’s up from 6 point 3 per cent in the year to August.

CSO figures show the largest rise in prices occurred in housing, electricity, gas and other fuels, up almost 17 per cent.

Education was the only sector to show a decrease when compared to the same period last year.
