Gardaí and road safety groups are appealing to motorists to slowdown this weekend.
Eight people have died on the roads since the start of the year – one of those was 22 year old Layla Hussein Ali who died after being hit by a car at Illistrin, outside Letterkenny this day last week.
In total, five drivers, one pedestrian, one passenger and a motorcyclist have been killed.
