Letterkenny Councillors call on Government to fund counselling service

Members of the Letterkenny Milford Municipal District have called on the government to provide funding to allow the Child and Adolescent Counselling service operating out of the Raphoe Pastoral Centre continue.

It emerged this week that the service, which is predominantly voluntary, requires a full time director, but despite requests, neither Tusla nor the HSE are prepared to offer the money to allow that to happen.

It now faces potential closure in March.

Donegal County Council is to contact Bishop Alan McGuckian to offer support, and it’s expected the issue will be raised in the Dail in the coming days.

The issue was raised by Cllr Michael McBride:
