No alternative to TV licence this year

There will be no alternative to the TV licence this year.

That’s according to the Finance Minster, who has already rejected the suggestion that RTÉ could be wholly funded through the Exchequer – deeming the move risky.

It comes as the government tries to find a way to support the broadcaster, following the controversy around its finances last year.
