Soc Dems propose plan to tackle teacher recruitment and retention crisis

As shortages continue to dominate the agenda’s of the main teaching unions today, a plan is being proposed to reduce the time it takes to qualify.

The Professional Master of Education course currently takes two years, but the Social Democrats say it could be halved, essentially doubling the number of newly qualified teachers within a short time frame.
