UK to hold a general election in July

The UK is to hold a general election on Thursday July 4th.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the move outside Downing Street, following a Cabinet meeting earlier this afternoon.

Speculation had been mounting around Westminster of a snap poll, with the Prime Minister saying earlier it would be in the ‘second half of the year’.
