Gardai in Donegal are warning motorists to be aware that it is deer rutting season which may lead to more deer on the roads.

Motorists are advised that deer can pose a danger to road users at this time of year due to their unpredictable nature.

Gardai are appealing to drivers to take extra care when driving, especially at dusk and at dawn, to be prepared to stop suddenly if needed and to reduce speed in areas where deer warning signs are in place.
