A turning of the sod ceremony took place this morning at Scoil Iosagain Buncrana.
The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of the Derry Diocese, Donal McKeown.
The new building will cater for 750 pupils with 25 classrooms, 8 of which will be dedicated to special education, which has long been lobbied for.
