A Lifford Stranorlar area councillor says a ‘Safe Routes to School’ project is at the planning stage for St Bridget’s National School in Convoy, after concern was expressed on Highland Radio’s Nine til Noon Show this week about the safety of children going to and from the school.

The ‘Safe Routes to School’ programme began in 2020. and one of the first schemes to be completed in Donegal was in Raphoe.

On the show today, Cllr Patrick McGowan said such schemes are important, but also stressed the responsibility on parents to ensure they are driving carefully.

He said the Raphoe project has been a huge success, and he wants to see that replicated in Convoy………….
