“Keep fighting, and hopefully the government will do the right thing” – DCB homeowner

A defective concrete homeowner in Donegal says the government must heed the research into what is happening to homes in Donegal and elsewhere, and amend the redress scheme in a way that reflects reality.

Chris Duddy was speaking in Burt yesterday, where the 2025 Defective Block Conference took place. This year’s event was focussed on presenting the findings of several Ulster University led research projects of the science behind the crumbling blocks, as well as presentations on the social and mental health impacts of the crisis. A review of the IS465 protocol which underpins the scheme is currently out to public consultation.

Mr Duddy, whose home is currently being rebuilt, says it’s vital that people keep pushing for improvements, particularly in light of the evidence presented at the conference………….
