There were 39 admitted patients awaiting beds at Letterkenny University Hospital this morning, the third highest figure in the country after Limerick and Galway.
14 of those waiting in Letterkenny were on emergency department trolleys.
Yesterday, the HSE was urging people to consider other options because of the high numbers presenting in the ED.
Nationally, 444 admitted patients were awaiting beds today.
