Work on the highly anticipated £3 million redevelopment of Mitchell Park in Castlederg is due to commence today.
The floodlit 3G playing pitch will accommodate competitive standard soccer matches at all levels, a GAA junior-size pitch and mini-sized soccer pitches, suitable for youth football and recreational play.
The project will also include the construction of a coach education room, additional parking, a greenway and a new outdoor trim trail will be built adjacent to the new pitch.
Derry City and Strabane District Council has advised that the Mitchell Park site will be closed to the public for the duration of the contract.
