The first of the measures announced in the Budget are now in effect.
Around 2 and a half cents has been added to the cost of a litre of petrol and diesel.
While tobacco products have increased by 50 cents.
Meanwhile, the Budget has been criticised for not progressing the Government promise to cap the cost of childcare at 200 euro per child per month.
