Man arrested following the assault of election canvassers in Dublin

A man has been arrested in relation to the alleged assault on election canvassers in Dublin yesterday.

Two women were reportedly assaulted on North Strand Road.

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald was among the group at the time.

The man, aged in his 30s, has been taken to a Garda station in the capital, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
