Figures suggest the average voter turnout for Donegal averaged at around 40% yesterday, as the counting of votes continues in Letterkenny.
Donegal Town recorded the highest turnout, with 42.6%, while Stranorlar saw 36.3% of the LEA vote.
Figures recorded before 9pm also showed the voter turnout was the highest in Rossnowlagh with 41%, Ballyshannon with 36% and Letterkenny with 35%, with turnout being as low as 27% in Bundoran.
The national average turnout was 43.9%.
