Man arrested following discovery of prescription medication in Derry

Police in Derry have made an arrest and located a quantity of prescription medication following a search at a residential property in the city.

Approximately 3,000 tablets were seized during a search at a house in the Slievemore Park area yesterday afternoon.

One man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class C controlled drug, possession of a Class C controlled drug with intent to supply, and being concerned in the supply of a Class C controlled drug.

He remains in custody, assisting with police enquiries.

Police say they will continue to disrupt the activities of those involved in drugs supply of any kind, including illicit pharmaceuticals, that bring harm to communities across Northern Ireland.

They are warning anyone considering buying drugs online, without consulting a medical professional, that these unregulated drugs are often produced in illicit, unhygienic laboratories and are made to look like the genuine product, meaning that they can be incredibly dangerous to take.

Police encourage anyone wishing to report a crime of this nature to contact them on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
