Almost half of 2024 road fatalities occurred in Donegal, Dublin, Mayo and Cork

Almost half of last year’s road fatalities occurred in Donegal, Dublin, Mayo, and Cork.

An Garda Síochána has released its 2024 annual report, which shows there were 176 fatalities in 161 fatal collisions, more than 10% above the five-year average.

Despite this, the numbers represent a slight improvement compared to 2023, with seven fewer fatalities and ten fewer fatal collisions, a drop of four percent.

In Donegal alone, 17 people lost their lives on the roads last year.
