Man arrested in connection with 1973 Aughnacloy murder released on bail

A man arrested in connection with the murder of Marian Beattie in the North has been released on bail.

The 18 year old’s body was found at the bottom of a quarry near Aughnacloy in County Tyrone in March 1973 – hours after she went to a charity dance nearby.

Police arrested a man in his 70s this morning – but he’s now been released to allow for further enquiries.
