The heatwave has come to an end across much of the country.
It was another hot day in the south and south-east yesterday, but elsewhere, temperatures failed to climb above the heatwave threshold of 25 degrees.
It means the 14-day record set at Moorepark in County Cork in August 1976 was not matched.
