Gardai are investigating after there was an attempted robbery in the post office in St. Johnston yesterday.
A man entered the premises and demanded money from the cashier. When refused, he tried to break into behind the counter area.
He was unsuccessful in his attempts and fled on foot.
The post office has been the target for robberies on numerous occasions prior to this latest incident.
Local Cllr Gary Doherty has condemned the incident and says border areas in particular are vulnerable to this kind of crime:
