The RNLI is aiming to halve the number of drownings off the Irish and British coasts over the next nine years.
The “Respect the Waters” campaign is highlighting the dangers both on and near the water in a bid to make people think more about the risk it poses and the need for saftey precautions.
The message is being reinforced today as the RNLI holds its annual flag day across Ireland.
