Zayn Malik revealed he is not on talking terms with Louis Tomlinson as he discussed his ex-bandmate’s new son.
Fans quickly noticed on Thursday that Zayn had ‘liked’ Louis’s snap of baby Freddie and Zayn admitted that was the only nod he could give his former friend.
He told Dave Berry on Capital FM: “Obviously I wish him the best of luck and everything and his kid’s cute as f*** so I favourited it and everything. We’re not talking on friend terms so that’s as far as I can go by favouriting his pic”.
Zayn burst back into the spotlight on Friday with his first solo single Pillowtalk, which has already co-opted most of the UK’s radio waves.
He announced in March last year that he was leaving One Direction to be “a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight”.
As he admitted, that plan was impossible.
“It worked out for about two weeks and I got bored with it. I don’t think I could ever go back to being completely normal, I guess that’s something I accepted, this is as normal as it can get for me. I’m just trying to make music I believe in and I stand for.”
Capital Breakfast host Dave also asked how Zayn was coping without his “support networks” of the band and former fiancee Perrie Edwards in place.
“That’s a funny way of looking at it,” he said. “I didn’t really think through the process, I didn’t really have a plan, I just did it. But it’s worked out all right, I’m in a good place.”
Zayn has remained tight-lipped about the name of his upcoming album but he did reveal for eagle-eyed fans that the title has been freshly inked on his arm.
He said: “I haven’t got much space left on my body. I just got a tattoo on my leg and my arm. I got a tattoo of the name of the album and on my leg, what is kinda weird, it’s just a dude smoking.”
