Two Donegal rugby players were in the Ireland’s ladies’ squad as they lost to France in the Six Nations Women’s tournament on Saturday evening.
Larissa Muldoon, who is from Cappry and plays for Skewen in Wales, started and Fahan woman Nora Stapleton (pictured), who plays for Leinster’s Old Belvedere, was on the bench.
But France led at half-time 15–6 and ran out 18-6 winners at the Stade Aime Giral in Perpignan.
The loss was not a major upset as Ireland Women head coach Tom Tierney had revealed before the match that Ireland’s ladies have never beaten Les Bleues in France.
Nora, who received a Donegal Sports Star Award recently in the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny, and scrum half Larissa each won the Women’s RBS 6 Nations championship last year with Ireland.
