Champions Tyrone beat Donegal in Ulster U21 Semi Final

Tyrone returned to the Ulster Under 21 Football Championship Final having defeated Donegal 1-15 to 2-8 at Celtic Park in Derry on Wednesday night.
Donegal dominated the first half and should have been further ahead than the 0-6 to 0-4 scoreline at the break.
Jamie Brennan missed a golden goal opportunity to increase Donegal’s advantage at the start of the second as Tyrone keeper Sean Fox pulled off a point blank save.
A rejuvenated Tyrone kicked into gear in the second half and when Ryan Coleman stuck the ball in the net in the eighth minute, after it deflected off the upright, Tyrone hit the front for the time since the fifth minute of the game.
Four minutes later, substitute Conor Doherty had the ball in the net to put Declan Bonner’s side a point up, 1-7 to 1-6.
Among six unanswered Tyrone scores, referee Barry Cassidy gave Caolan McGonagle a black card and a second yellow to Stephen McMenamin for a double challenge on Cathal McShane.
Fourteen man Donegal were soon down to thirteen as McGonagle’s replacement Bruce Waldon was sent to the line for two yellows.
Stephen McBrearty scored a late penalty but with the numerical advantage The Ulster and All Ireland Champions were never really troubled in the final quarter, running out four point winners.
The game ended on an unsavory note, as both sets of player and management teams were involved in a melee just moments after the final whistle.
Tyrone will play Monaghan in next Wednesday’s Final at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh.
Monaghan booked their first Under-21 final appearance in nine years after convincing 2-16 to 9 points win over Armagh in Newry.
