The trial of Julian Cuddihy is to begin today at Dublin’s Central Criminal Court.
Mr. Cuddihy (aged 43), of Churchtown, Carndonagh, has been charged with the murder of his parents, Jimmy (aged 77) and Kathleen (aged 73) at their home in Carndonagh on or around October 22, 2014.
Cuddihy was initially remanded to the Central Mental Hospital where he had been receiving treatment but conditions of his remand were changed.
In January of this year in Letterkenny District Court, Judge James Faughnan remanded Cuddihy to Castlrea Prison and ordered his ongoing medical needs be addressed.
In February , Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy set the trial date for June 7th and proceedings will begin later today.
