President Micheael D. Higgins will make his first official visit to Letterkenny today.
The President is to attend a special ceremony at the Plaza at An Grianan Theatre where he will unveil a plaque to mark the towns success in last year’s National Tidy Towns Competition.
The President and his wife Sabina are due to arrive at An Grianan at noon, with Port Road closed from Station Roundabout, past the theatre and towards the courthouse for part of the day.
President Higgins will also carryout a number of other engagements.
For Cllr Gerry Mc Monagle, greeting President Higgins will be one of his last duties as Mayor of the Letterkenny Municipal District.
He says it’s a huge honour to do so on the President’s first official visit………….
