Man who escaped from Derry Courthouse returned for trial

 
A man who was captured on camera escaping from Derry Courthouse has been returned for trial.
Dean Beattie (23) of no fixed abode appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate’s Court.
Beattie was charged with escaping from lawful custody on December 23 last.
It was accepted there was a case to answer and Beattie said he did not wish to make any statement or call any witnesses at this stage.
He was returned for trial to appear at Derry Crown Court on September 6.
Beattie had been due to appear at court on December 23 charged with robbery and assault charges that were said to have occurred on December 12 last year.
When he arrived at the court he was captured on CCTV climbing over security railings and making off down Bishop Street.
