Despite defeat on Sunday, Donegal had enough done in the previous fixtures to book their place in Division One next season. With Laois winning 1-15 to 1-11, the result was good enough for both sides to be promoted and take their place at Croke Park on Easter Sunday for the Division 2 league final. That defeat was Donegal’s first of the league campaign. Dermot Molloy scored Donegal’s goal in the game.
