Foyle MLA says Human Trafficking remains a major concern

A Foyle MLA says human trafficking remains a grave danger.
A total of 52 potential victims of human trafficking, including potential victims of sexual exploitation were referred to the PSNI last year, six of them children
Sinn Fein’s Justice Spokesperson in the North, Raymond McCartney says human trafficking is still a grave danger which invloves the horrific abuses of human rights but as they are largely hidden crimes he says it makes it difficult to assess the scale of the problem.
The Foyle MLA says his party made a number of reccomendations last year in response to the Department of Justice consultation on its Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery strategy.
They suggested raising awarenes of human trafficking, training people to recognise and report signs of trafficking and protecting victims and potential victims.
He is now encouraging anyone who has suspicions or has spotted signs of trafficking to report it immediately.
