The Naomh Colmcille GAA club have had all adult members banned for 8 weeks after the club hosted an ‘unauthorised tournament’ in February.
The Donegal Competition Controls Committee were informed of a tournament that took place at Páirc Colmcille and following a meeting with the club last week, the club and Donegal County Board were informed that all Naomh Colmcille adult members were to be suspended for 8 weeks, with the club’s senior matches in that period to be forfeited.
It’s reported in the Inishowen Independent that the tournament was a fundraiser for Newtowncunningham man Paul Dillon, who has been diagnosed with MND.
The club have appealed the decision taken by the Donegal Competition Controls Committee. The tournament itself was organised by a fundraising committee in the local area and not by the Naomh Colmcille club themselves.
