It’s been claimed that some residents in Donegal are drinking water from wells that isn’t fit for human consumption because they can’t afford to pay for a water connection.
Some connections from the mains to properties can cost over 50 thousand euro with people, many elderly and living off a pension, not in a position to foot the hefty bill.
Donegal County Council is to write to the Irish Water Regulator requesting a review and reduction of costs involved for new water connections.
Cllr Donal Coyle says in this day and age people should be entitled to a clean drinking water supply without the massive costs:
