Thornberry and Main Street incidents prove town can’t afford cut in Garda numbers

The Chairman of Letterkennys Joint Policing Committee has said that two incidents here in the early hours of yesterday morning demonstrate that Letterkenny couldn’t deal with a cut in Garda numbers.
14 people were arrested following a disturbance in the Thornberry area at around 530am yesterday morning and a number of premises on Letterkennys Main Street had their windows smashed at around the same time.
The man responsible for smashing the windows on Main Street was brought to the attention of gardai by a passer-by, but it’s understood Gardai had to leave the scene of the crime, without making any arrests, to attend the scene in Thornberry.
