Last year was another busy year for the RNLI lifeboats.
According to the organisation’s annual statistics, the organisation received almost 1000 calls – and rescued 905 people.
In Donegal, there were 87 launches from the county’s three stations, with 84 people assisted.
Lough Swilly was Donegal’s busiest lifeboat station in 2011, with 41 launches and 18 people assisted. It was the fourth busiest lifeboat station on the island.
Arranmore had 31 launches and 37 people assisted.
Bundoran had 15 launches and 15 people assisted.
The third busiest station on the islsnd was Portrush, with 44 launches and 32 people assisted.
Nationally Howth lifeboat station in Dublin was the busiest coastal Irish station, launching 48 times and assisting 60 people.
The busiest month for rescues was July with 155 launches followed by August with 124 calls for assistance.
