One of the last Town Councillors in Letterkenny has died.
Jim Lynch spent over 30 years as a member of Letterkenny Town Council, and its predecessor, Letterkenny Urban District Council.
He was a long time environmental campaigner, calling for measures such as a river walk along the River Swilly
Jim Lynch was one of the first people to use the term ‘cathedral quarter’ in a council chamber, and in recent years, he carried on that commitment, serving as Heritage Officer with the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter Project.
Jim Lynch was an uncle of the current Mayor of Letterkenny Milford Municipal District, Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly.
He says Letterkenny has lost a great man………..
