50 per cent increase in the number of people killed on Irish roads so far this year

There’s been a 50 per cent increase in the number of people killed on Irish roads so far this year.

Figures obtained by the Irish Independent show nine people lost their lives in the first three weeks of January.

Four were pedestrians, three were drivers and two were passengers.

The Road Safety authority told the paper Ireland needs to ‘get back on track’, and reverse the increases in road traffic deaths we’ve seen over the past year.
