A Donegal mother said she’s thankful her child avoided the violent outburst that seen a gang of masked men with machetes and sticks attack a man who defended himself with a chair at yesterday’s ‘Boys 4 Boxing’ quarter finals in County Roscommon.
It’s believed they were looking for ‘another man’ and fled within minutes of arriving.
Twin Towns Boxing Club member Molly Lafferty was to compete in the U14 All Ireland Semi Final today in Castlereagh.
However the event was cancelled after the incident, which seen the man in his 40s rushed to Galway University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
