A Letterkenny based councillor says many council tenants in Defective Block Homes are living in unacceptable conditions, and this situation needs to be treated as an emergency.
Cllr Thomas Sean Devine of the 100% Redress Party says there needs to be more focus on securing a remediation scheme.
Officials say if necessary, people can apply to be rehoused in the interim, but Cllr Devine says there is very little alternative housing available.
He says the reality is that if a hotel room was sub-standard, people wouldn’t pay to stay there.
