Fresh plea to Government to follow through with permanent social welfare increases

There are calls for the Government to follow through with permanent social welfare increases for the most vulnerable in society.

In the coming weeks pensioners, carers and people with disabilities will be among 1.4 million people who’ll start to receive temporary double payments in their benefits.

Nessan Vaughan, Chair of the Saint Vincent de Paul Social Justice Committee, says the temporary nature of the payment raises are hampering household budgeting.
