HSE Statement:
HSE West and North West and Dreenan welcome the publication by Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA) of its report following an inspection at the Designated Centre.
Dreenan Designated Centre is managed by the Health Service Executive (HSE) and provides residential support for up to five residents. The facility consists of a detached bungalow with five bedrooms situated on a small campus within walking distance of a large town in County Donegal. All residents have their own bedroom and access to shared amenities, including a kitchen, dining room, two sitting rooms, a visitor’s room, and bathroom facilities. A dedicated team of nurses and healthcare assistants provides 24/7 support to residents.
The centre was inspected by the Health Information Quality Authority (HIQA) on March 26th 2025 and the report was published on the HIQA website on July 9th 2025.
During the inspection, seventeen regulations were inspected, sixteen were found to be fully compliant and one received a substantially compliant judgement.
The HIQA inspector noted in the report “Residents in this centre received a good quality service. The needs of the residents had been identified and appropriate supports were put in place to meet those needs. The service was delivered by a consistent team of staff with the necessary mix of skills.”
The HSE has undertaken the following action to ensure full compliance within this centre:
A review of the kitchen facilities was undertaken and agreed that the work is no longer required due to planned decongregation of the centre. Dinner and evening meals are provided from a central kitchen where residents are provided with a range menu options.
The HSE remains committed to maintaining a high-quality service within Dreenan Designated Centre.
