
An Inishowen-based councillor has expressed hope that a new Garda station will be established in Carndonagh.
The existing station was deemed not fit for purpose in 2018 and was omitted from the Garda Building and Refurbishment Programme 2016–2021.
Following a Parliamentary Question from Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn, it has been confirmed that a preliminary business case for a new Garda station is ongoing.
Cllr Albert Doherty says he hopes a new building will be prioritised to service North Inishowen, and he intends to ask Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan about the proposal during the Minister’s visit to the county today:
