
A deal on EU fishing quotas is being described as “a betrayal of Ireland’s fishing industry”.
An agreement was struck in Brussels in the early hours of this morning.
The Seafood Ireland Alliance says it will result in the industry having approximately 57,000 tonnes less quota to fish next year.
It warns that equates to a possible total loss of €200 million, and could put over 2,000 jobs in coastal communities at risk.
