Disparity in severity of disabilities North and South

Disability rates North and South are similar, but the severity of disability is much higher in Northern Ireland.

A new ESRI study found 23% of 20 to 69 year olds in the north have a disability, compared with 22% in the south.

But Northern Ireland recorded a higher share of people experiencing more severe disabilities, at 11%, compared to 6% in the Republic.
