The PSNI’s terrorism unit has opened an attempted murder investigation, after a car exploded in front of a police station on the outskirts of Belfast.
Detectives say it had been “hijacked” from a delivery driver, with a gas cannister put into the boot.
Two babies were among nearby residents evacuated.
Deputy Chief Constable Bobby Singleton says an “early working” theory is it “may be the work of the New IRA”.
